VAN MIERLO, “Lou” Susan Mary Lourdes (Reichstein) February 8,1926 ~ March 16, 2017 (age 91)

After a brave battle with Parkinson’s and CHF, it is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of the kindest mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife and friend, peacefully at home on Thursday morning, March 16, 2017. Lou just celebrated her 91st birthday on February 8th, 2017. Lourdes was recently predeceased by her husband of 71 years, John Van Mierlo. She was the very much loved mother of Barb Lingenfelter (husband Bob) and Gerry Van Mierlo (wife Robin). Lou was a proud Gramma to her grandchildren Lana and Myrna Lingenfelter (Jason), Rob (Tricia) and Kari Van Mierlo, and her only great-grandchild, Michael Robert John, son of Rob & Tricia Van Mierlo. Lourdes was the dear sister of Irene Russell (husband Gerald, deceased), Joan Hummel (husband Cletus), Jean Rennette (husband Bert, deceased) and Robert “Buddy” Reichstein (wife Norma). She was predeceased by her siblings Justin (wife Dianne, surviving and wife Vera, deceased), Grenville, Gerald, Mervin (wife Gertrude “Gertie”, surviving), Shirley, Barbara, Ronnie (wife Carol, deceased) and an infant sibling; and by her parents Joseph Reichstein and Juliann (Odrowski). With respect to her wishes there will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Church, Powassan, with spring burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Trout Creek.
