With family by her side, Maybelle Young died peacefully, at Eastholme, Powassan on Thursday, March 24, 2016. She was in her 94th year. Maybelle (Keall) was predeceased by her husband Francis Joseph Young (1918-2008). She was the beloved mother of the late Patricia Cotnam (1941-2005) (Pat of Montreal), Ron Young of North Bay, Wayne Young (Joanne) of Stratford, Charlene O’Hallarn (Bob) of Richmond Hill, Eric Young (Laura) of Powassan and Judy Gagnon (the late Claude) of Powassan. Gramma will be lovingly remembered by 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Maybelle was the dear sister of Winnie Norman (late Everett) and was predeceased by her siblings Clifford Keall (late Nelly), Rena McEwen (late Arnold), Gordon Keall (late Murielle), Eva White (late Don), George Keall (Suzie of London), Violet Brown (late Reg), Allan Keall (late Ev) and Joyce Storie (late Earl). Maybelle was formerly very active in the Powassan community, volunteering for many years with the Canadian Cancer Society, the Powassan Food Bank, St. Joseph’s Church and Eastholme. She was a member of the Powassan Curling Club, the Royal Canadian Legion, the Powassan Horticultural Society, the Silver Crescent Institute and St. Joseph’s Church Catholic Women’s League and was an avid supporter of the Powassan Lions Club. The Young family will receive visitors at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. (Vigil prayers at 7:00 pm.) and on Wednesday, March 30 from 10:00 to 11:00 am. at St. Joseph’s Church, Powassan. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Powassan Union Cemetery at a later date. If desired, donations in memory of Maybelle to the Eastholme Activity Fund (cheques payable to Eastholme Home for the Aged), the Multiple Sclerosis Society or Autism Ontario are suggested.
