STRAUS, Melvin Joseph

After a brief illness, on November 12, 2016 at North Bay Regional Health Centre. He was in his 73rd year. Mel was the beloved husband of Julie (nee Hummel) of Powassan; the much loved father of Valerie Rauch-Lavigne (Ron) of Corbeil and Johanne Straus (Paul Thompson) of Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan. Papa will be lovingly remembered by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mel was the dear brother of Marie Vollick (the late George) of Viola Rowan (Frank) of Nipissing, Al Straus (Nina) of Alberta and the late Eileen Straus. Mel was retired from a longtime career with Northern Brick and Tile in North Bay. As per Mel’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will take place at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan, on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 pm. A memorial service will follow at 8 pm.
