Peacefully at Eastholme, Powassan, embraced by the love of her family, on Wednesday, April 27, 2016. She was in her 88th year. Vera (Quigley) was the beloved wife of Joseph O. “Pat” Duquette of Powassan; Very much loved mother of Jeff “Duke” Duquette of Smith’s Falls, Linda Langis (late Gilbert) of Timmins, Gregory Duquette (Jane) of Bracebridge, Tim “Duke” Duquette (Marie) of Astorville, Lorrie Rennie (Michael) of Waterloo and Jennifer Bowman (Mike Nelson) of Powassan. Grandma will be lovingly remembered by 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Vera was the dear sister of Verna Giesler (Willie) of Powassan. She was predeceased by her siblings Muriel Keall (late Gordon), Helen Perkins (late Charlie), Ruth Campbell (late Jim) and Hector Quigley (Sylvia of Powassan). Vera was a kind, generous and loving mother who shone her light for everyone to see. Her smile and open arms welcomed family, friends and strangers into her home. Her trademark was to share a pot of tea and anything that was on the stove. She will be sadly missed by whose ever path she crossed. Cremation has taken place. The Duquette family will receive visitors at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan on Monday, May 16th from 2:00 to 5:00 pm followed by her Memorial Service at 5:00 pm. Interment of ashes will follow on Tuesday, May 17th at 10:00 am in Powassan Union Cemetery. If desired, donations in memory of Vera to the Canadian Cancer Society or the C.N.I.B. are suggested.
