I was in Mr. Winterstein's Trowel Trades class in 1973.
He was always nice and I remember him fondly.

We met Karl and Marie when we first went to Bendale in 1963. We became friends, and soon found out what a big part music played in the Winterstein family. We remember visiting the home and seeing the kids show up, drop the school stuff at the door, and start playing together right away. A wonderful family feeling!
We send you our condolences. We remember them both with affection. Marie showing Kath where to shop for bargains, and Karl singing "the frozen logger"

Our deepest condolences to the Winterstein family. Karl was the great friend of our dear father and mother and we have fond memories of visiting with your family over the years. It was a joy to reconnect with Karl lately and to correspond with him. He lived life to the full and left a legacy of art, music, writing, teaching and many other accomplishments too numerous to be mentioned here. We will always remember Karl for his great good humour, his loyal friendship and his warmth of spirit.

Sad to hear of Karl's passing. I got to know Karl when he taught Trowel Trade at Bendale Secondary back in '69-'70. He was a great teacher to learn from. He always had a story to share. He will be sadly missed. Thanks for the memories.

We always tried to weasel one of Karl's fantastic paintings from him whenever we could. He always resisted. Damn! We always enjoyed his stories of his war experiences, boxing pursuits and pigeon racing. They always had a humourous spirit and made us laugh.
He influenced many people and will be both missed and fondly remembered.

How sad to hear of Karl's sudden passing. What a delightful man - his sharp memory and quick wit were a real treat. His presence at the Waddington presentation was an added bonus.
