It is with sadness that the Stripe/McVeety families announce the passing of Allecia Stripe (McVeety), on Sunday, October 10, 2021, at Eastholme, Powassan. She was in her 80th year. Allecia was predeceased by her husband George Stripe Jr., and her parents Stella (Driver) and Welsley McVeety. She was the beloved mother of Deirdre Lawrence of Willow Beach and George Stripe (Dawn) of Restoule. Grandma will be lovingly remembered by five grandchildren: Michael, Stephanie, Alena, Samantha, and George IV.  Allecia was the eldest of four, and the dear sister of Kurt (Shirley), Stuart (Mona) and Michael (Tammy) McVeety. Fondly remembered by Robert Lawrence. Allecia was a very popular and accomplished music teacher in the area, and positively influenced the lives of countless young people at nine different elementary schools during her long career. For many years, she served as the organist at Restoule United Church, and also as the Choral Director for Powassan United Church. The family will receive visitors at Paul Funeral Home, Powassan, on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be conducted at Powassan United Church on Friday, October 15 at 1:00 pm and will be live-streamed (see link below).  Please call 705-724-2024 to reserve a visiting time on Thursday or a seat for the funeral service on Friday. Please note: COVID-19 protocols will apply; Masks must be worn and physical distancing must be maintained. Interment at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Restoule will follow the funeral service. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Restoule or Powassan United Churches, or the Eastholme Residents Fund are suggested (see below).
