With heavy hearts, the family of Barbara "Barb" Howe announce her peaceful passing on May 25, 2026 after a very short illness.
Barb was 84 years old and the wife of Gerald “Gerry” Howe of Chisholm Township for 67 years – always enjoying life and adventures together.
She was the much-loved mother of Stephen (Denise) Howe of Chisholm and Lisa (Daryl) Lockton of Nanton, Alberta. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren out west, Cori (Steven), Kristofer (Adrienne) and Kyle (Alisha) as well as step-granddaughter Chantel. Barb was predeceased by her brothers Barry (and the late Sally) and Allan Griese, and is survived by her sister-in-law Carol Griese of Powassan.
After spending her working career as an office clerk, lastly at Canadore College, Barb and Gerry retired to their new home at Wasi Lake, amongst so many friends who became extended family. Determined as always to travel, Barb and Gerry had recently returned from Alberta, sharing the annual branding event with friends and family there; most notably their great-grandchildren – Callie and Travis (Kris), Zoey and Clark (Cori) and Drea and Brooklyn (Kyle).
Cremation has taken place. Gerry will ensure family and friends are invited to share in a celebration of Barb’s life later this summer at their favourite Friday afternoon party site – their garage.
