Bernadette Giesler died peacefully, on January 15, 2021 at the age of 92. Bernadette was predeceased by her beloved husband of 70 years Joseph Giesler. She is survived by her children, JoAnne (Robert Elliott), Jennifer (Tim Bertrand), and James “Jim” Giesler; her grandchildren Nicholas Elliott, Barrett (Dinah) Elliott, Matthew (Cally) Elliott, Hailey (Chris Sluman) Bertrand-Sluman, Kelsey (Stephen Mack) Bertrand, and great-grandchildren Sarah and Joseph Elliott, Alexander and Eleanor Mack and Briar Sluman. Bernadette is also survived by her brother Ronnie (Clarise) Hummel. She was predeceased by her parents Muriel (Turcotte) and Edward Hummel and siblings Edgar and Lyle Hummel. Bernadette’s family wish to express their sincere gratitude for her care to the amazing staff at Eastholme. Since July 2017, they have been her extended family, showing so much love and compassion, always going above and beyond. We always knew she was in good hands. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, Powassan. The mass will be available on St. Joseph’s Church Facebook page on Wednesday, January 20, beginning at 11:00 am. Spring interment will take place at Powassan Union Cemetery.
