WHITMELL, Bert Edward “Bud”

Bud Whitmell died peacefully, following a prolonged illness, at North Bay Regional Health Centre, on Tuesday, June 6, 2023. He was 81 years old. Bud was predeceased by his wife Judith Ann “Judy” (Atkins) (1946-2019). He was the much-loved father of Edward “Ted” (Diana Brushey) of Stittsville and Jennifer of Port Loring. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandson Rowan Brushey-Whitmell. Bud was predeceased by his parents Ruby (Davis)  and Victor Whitmell, and his siblings Cindy Payne (the late Steve), Clare (the late Judy) and Jerry Whitmell. He is survived by his brothers Jim Whitmell (Delta) of Paris, ON and Joey Whitmell (Carrie) of Port Loring. Bud was an active community man and was instrumental in the formation of the Arnstein Credit Union. He and Judy built and operated the Driftwood Motel and Restaurant for many years. The Whitmell family will receive visitors at St. Paul’s United Church, Golden Valley on Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and on Monday, June 12 from 10:00 am until the funeral service at 11:00 am.
