Cheryl died unexpectedly, after a months-long illness, at North Bay Regional Health Centre, with her family by her side. Cheryl (Porter) was the beloved wife of Joe Longstaff of Powassan. She was the much-loved mother of Tom Longstaff and Christiana (Kyle Flatt), all of Powassan. Cheryl was predeceased by her parents Jean (Woodcock) and Grant Porter, and by her siblings Joseph “Joey” Porter and Nancy (Porter) Whalen. Cheryl was retired after a career as a Health Care Aide. She was a woman of strong faith and served as lay pastor for the United Church of Canada. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Cheryl’s life will be announced at a later date.
