After a five-year battle with pancreatic cancer, David passed peacefully, on July 17, 2025 at Nipissing Serenity Hospice, North Bay, Ontario. He was 77 years old.
For over 55 years, David was the beloved husband of Charlene (Aultman) of Arnstein. He was the much-loved father of Todd (Peggy-Anne) of Arnstein, Christine (Casey) of Port Loring, Jody of Loring. He will be lovingly remembered by daughter-in-law Jennifer Whitehead and eight grandchildren: Brody, Briar (Ashley), Brady (Sandi), Rebecca, Denver, Carson, Joey, Wyatt and two great-grandchildren Remington and Benelli.
David was predeceased by his parents Olive (Cheaney) and Ervin Whitehead. He was the dear brother of Margie Currie (the late John) of Toronto, Eleanor Culin (Butch) of Sault Ste. Marie, Roland Whitehead of Arnstein, Nancy Bussey (Barry) of Loring, Joline McCauley (Gerry) of Arnstein, Laurie Virag (Richard) of Trout Creek and Peggy Whitehead of Arnstein. David was predeceased by his sister Debbie Ball (David, deceased).
David was predeceased by his parents-in-law Dolly (Du Quesnay) and Joe Aultman. He will be fondly remembered by his in-laws, Gerry Aultman (Karen) of Callander, Phyllis Young (Rick) of Callander, and Peter Aultman (Deb) of Powassan.
He will be warmly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.
David had a 30-year career fighting forest fires with the MNRF then started his own logging and firewood business, working until his cancer diagnosis.
As per David’s wish, cremation has taken place. His family will celebrate his life privately.
