George Milne Death Notice

George MacPherson Milne 1943 - 2023

Passed away at North Bay Regional Health Centre on October 28, 2023, at 80 years of age. He is survived by his sons Kevin (Laurie), Simcoe; Robin (Laura), Guelph and their mother Karen Milne.  He leaves behind precious grandchildren Ashley and Ben, Abigail and Noah. Survived by brother Doug (Nora), nieces and nephew in New Zealand.

Dad was an entrepreneur and small business owner who instilled strong work ethic and resiliency in both his boys. George is remembered through his many career endeavours including; building contractor, antique dealer, auctioneer, business owner of George’s Used Furniture, and driver for Lower Lakes. Both sons inherited his passion for the outdoors and local history. There are fond memories of driving the back roads of Ontario in search of live auctions, yard sales and the next great treasure around the bend. Whether it was running power tools, shingling a roof, or wrenching on dirt bikes, you grew up fast around Dad; acquiring skills and knowledge that made us wise beyond our years. Upon retirement he spent most of his time at the cottage in Golden Valley feeding the deer and sharing a drink and memories with Leona Bennet and Paul and Dona Dobbs.

Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of George’s life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in his memory to Lions Club International.
