Glen died peacefully, at North Bay Regional Health Centre, on Monday, April 1, 2024. He was 77 years old. Glen was the beloved husband of Delores Vester (nee Nadrofsky) of North Bay. He was the much-loved stepfather of Patty Vester (Rick Mathias) of North Bay and Jim Vester (T.C. Choi) of Ottawa. Glen is survived by his twin sister Gail Graham (Bob) of Callander and was predeceased by his parents Olive (Hodgins) and Fred Townson and his siblings Gordon (late Leona), Lyle (late Dorothy), Vernon (late Alice), Stan (late June), Ian (Audrey of North Bay), Clive, Barry (Joanne of Winnipeg) and Elwood “Woody” (late Denise). Glen will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Glen was retired from the City of North Bay Parks and Recreation Department, where he worked for many years.
The Townson family will receive visitors at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm. and on Saturday, April 13 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. The funeral service will follow on Saturday at 2:00 pm. Interment at Powassan Union Cemetery will take place at a later date.
The Townson family would like to acknowledge the exceptional care given to Glen throughout his illness; particularly Drs. Trenker, Masri and Rappaport, the nursing staff of NBRHC Emergency Department and C3, Brian and Lana at Algonquin Pharmasave, Care Partners and Miss Karen. Special gratitude to all of Glen’s favourite eateries: Terry’s Place, Beef and Brand and Burger World on Algonquin, who all came to say their final good-byes.
