Gwen Way died after a brief illness at North Bay’s Nipissing Serenity Hospice, North Bay, on Thursday, April 7, 2022. She was 83 years old. Gwen was the beloved wife of Douglas Earl Way of Powassan; the much-loved mother of Sherry-Anne Way of Gravenhurst, Sheldon Way (Stephanie) of Powassan, the late Shawn Way (1970-2015), and Scott Way (Kelly) of Washago. She will be fondly remembered by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Gwen was the dear sister of Marion Holmes and the late Wayne White. Gwen and Doug were married for almost 63 years. Gwen worked as a chef for many years in Gravenhurst restaurants. In retirement they lived in the Argyle area – Arnstein, Port Loring and Loring. During that time Gwen was an active member of the Port Loring Legion Branch 415 Ladies Auxiliary. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life gathering and interment of ashes at Mickle Memorial Cemetery, Gravenhurst will be announced at a later date.
