Jake died peacefully, surrounded by family, after a six-month battle with cancer, on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Nipissing Serenity Hospice, North Bay. He was 77 years old. For over 54 years Jake was the much-loved husband of Donna (Bolton) of Port Loring, and cherished father of Melissa (Duane) of Tottenham and Powassan and Belinda (Tony) of Capreol. He was “Papa Jake” to two grandchildren: Dutch and Rawley and will be lovingly remembered by Chloe and Sienna. Jake was the dear brother of Jeff (Nicky) of Toronto and the favourite uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Jake was the well-known, colourful owner of Jake’s Place in Port Loring. He was active in the Argyle Riders Snowmobile Club and formerly active in the Argyle Lions Club, and his personality was woven into the entire community.
A celebration of Jake’s life will take place at the Argyle Community Centre on Saturday, July 6, 2024 from 2:00 to 7:00 pm.
The Weller family extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff and volunteers of Nipissing Serenity Hospice for their exceptional care and comfort during Jake’s stay there. Please consider donations in his memory to continue their good work (nipissingserenityhospice.ca).
