John died peacefully on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Nipissing Serenity Hospice in North Bay, following a brief illness. He was 84 years old.
John was the beloved Husband of Linda (Lyttle, Moffat) of Callander.
He was the much-loved father of Mark O'Neill/Sonia O’Neill, Christine Kisser, Jason Moffat/Gillian Eckler, and Robbie Moffat/Cara McQuibban; and adored grandfather of: Stacia (Roman and Oscar), Malcolm, Taia, Devanie, Travis, Chelsea, Megan, Benjamin, Hannah, Callum, and Gemma.
John was the middle child of seven siblings including Harold, Rose, Frank, Kelly, Joe, and Peter. John had three half-siblings Thomas, Mary and Jane.
A professional electrical engineer by trade, John was retired from J. L. Richards in North Bay. He was an active member of the Anglican Church, serving in many roles over the years including lay reader, treasurer, warden, and worship leader. For many years John was an active member of the Powassan Curling Club and more recently was an avid pickleball player.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral service was held Sunday, July 5, 2026, at St. John The Divine Anglican Church, North Bay and can be viewed here: John O'Neill Funeral Service. John’s ashes will be laid to rest at Terrace Lawn Cemetery, North Bay, at a later date.
