Kenneth "Ken" Smith Death Notice

SMITH, Kenneth Hugh

Ken Smith died peacefully with family by his side, at North Bay Regional Health Centre, on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. He was 94 years old. Ken was predeceased by his wife Joan Evelyn (Heywood). He was the beloved father of Dennis Smith (Christine Chappell) of Victoria, BC, Merle Smith (Karen) of North Bay and Deborah Smith (Brad Davis) of North Bay. He will be lovingly remembered by grandchildren: Kenneth, David, Brent, Stephanie and Heather. Ken was predeceased by his parents Edith (Edwards) and James Dobbs Smith and his siblings Hilda Byers, Herb Smith and Elmer Smith. Ken was a retired heavy equipment operator with the TransCanada Pipelines. He guided on Lake Nipissing, loved hunting and fishing and camping with the family in the French River area and the Goose Islands on Lake Nipissing. Ken played guitar, banjo and fiddle at dances and events in Powassan and area. He was a wonderful story teller and loved to regale others with the stories of his escapades. The Smith family will receive visitors at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan, on Sunday, May 28, 2023 from 11:00 am until the funeral service at 12:30 pm. Private interment will follow at Powassan Union Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
