Lawrence Alexander Byers

Lawrence passed peacefully at North Bay Regional Health Centre on Friday, June 13, 2025. He was 92 years old.

Lawrence was the beloved husband of Lila (Grawbarger), of North Bay (formerly of Bear Valley and Callander), and father of Bonnie Connell (Allan) of Bruce Mines, Penny Etherington (Jim) of Thunder Bay, and Jerry Byers of Callander.

He will be lovingly remembered by six grandchildren: Jeffery Connell, Kevin Connell (Katie), Shane McDonald (Courtney), Amanda DeCorte (BJ), Alex Byers (Brianna) and Dakota Byers; and 10 great-grandchildren: Diezel, Mack, Jake, Zak, Chase, Trenton, Payton, Emma, Benson and Cassidy. Lawrence was predeceased by his granddaughter Zoey.

Lawrence was the dear brother of Mervin Byers (the late Ruth) of Mattawa, Vivian McKee (the late Ranald) of Timmins, Maurice Byers (Shirley) of North Bay, Margaret Watson (the late Dan) of United States, Thelma Byers of Timmins, Lyall Byers (Eunice) of Callander and Victor Byers (Linda) of Sturgeon Falls.

He was predeceased by his parents Mabel (McConnell) and Alex Byers, and his sister Hilda Hersemeyer (the late Eugene).

The Byers family received visitors at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. The funeral service was held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, June 19 followed by the committal service at Nipissing Cemetery.  A luncheon and time of fellowship took place back at the funeral home.
