He was the much-loved father of Peter Gauthier (Sherry) of Powassan, Cletus Gauthier (Kim) of Trout Creek, Mary Ann Yarlasky (Paul) of Callander, Laurie Forth (Mark) of Powassan and JoAnne Rich (Boyd) of Powassan.

Larry will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his ten grandchildren and their partners: Amy (Terry), Anthony (Amanda), Michael (Christie), Matthew (Sara), Heidi, Katie (Ryan), Emily (Cody), Kyle (Lucas), Eric, and Allison. He will also be missed by his 11 great-grandchildren: Peyton, Quinn, Jackson, Owen, Edwin, Ella, Hailey, Dawson, Lucas, Tyler and Scott.

Larry is survived by his half-siblings, Beverly Taylor, Ron Gauthier, Bob Gauthier and Mike Gauthier (all of the United States) as well as his sisters-in-law Jackie Geisler (Larry), Elaine Grabowski and Bev Young (Rainer). He was predeceased by his parents Katherine (Kate) Busch and Lawrence Gauthier, his daughter-in-law Judy Gauthier and sisters Helen Legault and Joan Streer and his half-siblings Bernice Combo and John Gauthier.

Larry was a longtime school bus owner/operator, a career that complemented his passion for farming on Ponderosa Road in Trout Creek, which he proudly referred to as “God’s Country”. Larry was a devout member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Trout Creek, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Trout Creek Agricultural Society. He loved to hunt at the Barrett Road Hunt Camp, and his favourite pastime was to share stories of the area, his roots and experiences with others.

The Gauthier family will receive visitors at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 7:45 pm. Vigil prayers and a Knights of Columbus tribute service will follow. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 17 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, Trout Creek. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Due to his health, Larry moved from the farm in December of 2022 to Trout Creek. Many thanks to all those who cared for, and spent time with Larry during his years living in the Trout Creek Senior Living Centre, and his last two months at the North Bay Regional Health Centre. As well, special thanks to Dr. Saltstone and the staff at the Powassan Family Health Team who supported and advocated for many years for Larry.

Donations can be made in Larry’s memory to the Knights of Columbus Council 7308, the Sacred Heart Catholic Women’s League or the Trout Creek Agricultural Society.
