Lloyd was a very special person and was a great influence on my hockey and on my life. He will be greatly missed.

I am deeply saddened today, after learning of Lloyd's passing. I was the Captain of his expansion Suncoast Suns ('71-'72) team in the EHL. "Hinch" was a truly special man, respected by all who came into contact with him. As a player he was feared for his physical, but honest approach to the game. As a coach I was proud to play for this bear of a man with the soft heart, who knew hockey well, but knew people much better.
My sincere feelings go out to the entire Hinchberger family. Please take solace in the knowledge Lloyd is fondly remembered by so many of us who considered him a friend.
-Gregg Pilling, Edmonton AB.

I am saddened to hear about Lloyd’s passing. I spent one summer fighting forest fires with Lloyd back in the early 70s. It was a life changing experience for me. Without the leadership of Lloyd and Clifford Long it could have gone very differently. I was a scrawny 145-pound university student. It was the hardest work I’ve ever done, and without their guidance I wouldn’t have gotten through it. Lloyd was a great mentor both through word and example. He must have been a great coach. He certainly earned my respect.

It does not surprise me that many have mentioned his story telling ability. He certainly could weave a good yarn. Lloyd was also a good listener. He had a boundless curiosity for other people’s stories. One thing I remember quite clearly was how much he loved his kids. He spoke of them fondly and often.

He will be sorely missed by one and all. I thank him for the impact he had on me at a time when I was somewhat rudderless.

So saddened to hear about uncle Lloyd's passing Lara and Marty. Some of my fondest memories are of your Dad's great stories and his wonderful jovial way of telling them! One of my favourite photos is of Uncle Lloyd and my daughter Stephanie when she was about 2 years old! So sorry I am away at the moment and will not be able to attend his memorial service.

Marty and I want to thank you all for the kind words and memories of our beloved Dad. In spite of the sadness of the past few days, it has been a great joy to meet and hear from so many people who knew him, and are so grateful to have heard their memories, of his story-telling, of hockey days, of forest-fire fighting, and so much more.
