McINTYRE, Norma Margaret 1928-2020 (Retired elementary school teacher)

It is with sadness that we announce the death of Norma Margaret McIntyre (retired teacher).  Norma passed away at the Serenity Hospice in North Bay, Ontario after a lengthy illness on June 20, 2020.  Norma was the proud Mother of the late Judy Gauthier (Peter); Cathy McIntyre (Pat); Jim McIntyre, Ruth Oakley, Donna McIntyre (Ted Bowman) and Karen McIsaac (Peter).  Norma was always proud to be a Grandmother of eight: Amy Hargrave (Terry); Anthony Gauthier (Amanda); James McIntyre, Tyler Court, Brandon Oakley, Morgan and Madison McIsaac and Mackenzie Cork.  Norma was fortunate as well to have five great-grandchildren:  Peyton, Quinn and Jackson Hargrave and Owen and Edwin Gauthier.  Her little boy, also known as her dog, Max, will miss her greatly.  Norma was born in Chisholm,Ontario to John and Emma Robertson.  Norma travelled away from home for her first teaching position and this is where she met her husband, John William McIntyre, who predeceased her in 1978.  Norma was predeceased by her brother Douglas and his wife, Terry.  Norma leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well.  Norma will be remembered for her years of dedicated teaching in the East Parry Sound Board of Education.  Norma began her teaching career in a one room school house in Commanda, Ontario, teaching grades 1 – 12.  Norma then taught grade three at the Trout Creek Public School and transferred to the Chisholm Public School until her retirement in 1987.  She was a mentor for many student teachers and had many students remember her for her kindness and patience even into her retirement years.  Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at a later date.   Should you wish to make a donation in Norma’s memory, please consider the Kidney Foundation of Canada or Nipissing Serenity Hospice.
