Robert "Bob" Alexander Loy

Bob died peacefully, on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Fairvern Nursing Home, Huntsville. He was 93 years old. Bob was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Shirley (Doan) (1934-2017). He was the much-loved father of Robert “Rob” (Wendy), Peter (Bonnie), Susan (Steve Byers), and Ellen (Dave Hodgins), all of Powassan. Grandpa/Big Papa will be lovingly remembered by seven grandchildren: Christopher (Stacy), Alexander (Amanda), Amanda (Brian), Kevin (Samantha), Ian (Megan), Brandi (Davin) and Justin (Michelle) and eight great-grandchildren: Rylee, Mason, Emmitt, Carly, Leah, Makayla, Avery and Kieran. Bob was predeceased by his parents Ruby (Colyer) and Robert Loy.

Bob was a longtime farmer in Powassan, running both dairy and beef operations until his retirement. He served on many industry boards including the local Milk Board, Co-Op, Soil & Crop Association and on the Board of Directors of the Agricultural College in New Liskeard. Also active in his community, Bob was a member of the Lions Club and a volunteer fire fighter. Later in life he ventured into real estate and became a very successful realtor.

Bob was a lifelong member of the Anglican Church and very active in the Anglican community. He served as a lay minister at both St. Mary’s and St. John’s parishes.

Cremation has taken place. The Loy family will receive visitors at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan on Friday, November 8, 2024 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and on Saturday, November 9 from 10:00 to 11:00 am. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment of ashes will follow at Holiness Cemetery, Powassan.
