Sue McMartin died peacefully on her 74th birthday, at North Bay Regional Health Centre, on Saturday, October 10, 2020, surrounded by the love of her family and her dear friend Linda Gravelle. Sue was the beloved wife, of 52 years, of Roy McMartin of North Bay and formerly of Callander. She was the much-loved mother of the late Shannon McMartin (1965-1991) and Grant McMartin (Michelle) of Callander. Sue is survived by her brother Andy Young of Ingersoll and was predeceased by her parents Korean (Walsh) and Bill (William) Young. She was a dear aunt to Bradley, Rick, Amanda, Lianna and Dan. Sue is remembered with love by her sisters-in-law Mary McMartin (Ernie McFarland) and Elinor McMartin (Paul Smyth), Lois Jastrau (1949-2013) and her brother-in-law John McMartin (1947-2017). She will be lovingly remembered by many friends and family. All will miss her warm hugs and contagious smile. She operated Sue’s Hairdressing for many years, and was a Past President of the Callander Lions Club. Sue loved to spread joy to others through sharing her love of music by singing at retirement homes. The family greatly acknowledges the love and compassion she received from the staff of C1 at the NBRHC. Cremation has taken place. The McMartin family will receive family and friends at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan, on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 11 am, for a Memorial Service. Interment will take place immediately after the service at Union Cemetery in Callander. A reception to celebrate Sue’s life will be held at a later date. COVID-19 restrictions are in effect. Masks are required and two metres physical distancing must be maintained. Attendance at the Memorial Service is limited to 50 people.
