Sylvia Doreen (Selwood) Smith

At the grand age of 103 years, Sylvia died peacefully at Eastholme, Powassan, on Sunday, November 23, 2025. Sylvia was the cherished mother of Susan Topham (Paul) and Jerry Smith, all of Powassan. She was predeceased by her sons Robert (Pauline, surviving), Glen and Stan Smith. Sylvia was the much-loved grandmother of seven: David, Nicole, Allan, Anthony, Rebecca, Laurie and Patricia, and great-grandmother of 12.

Sylvia was predeceased by her parents Emma Jane (Oldfield) and Douglas Edward Selwood.

The last of her generation, Sylvia was also predeceased by her siblings Kathleen Floyd, Ruth Stillar, Arnold Selwood, Stan Selwood and Albert Selwood.

The Smith family will receive visitors at the Paul Funeral Home, Powassan on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and on Thursday, December 11 from 10:00 to 11:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am. Interment of ashes will take place at Powassan Union Cemetery at a later date.
