GARLAND, Thomas Michael David

Thomas died unexpectedly, at his home in Corbeil, on Monday, April 25, 2022. He was 34 years old. Thomas was the beloved son of Wendy (Church-McCallan) and Barry Garland of Corbeil. He was the much-loved brother of Sarah McCallan (Tim) of Owen Sound and favourite brother of Spencer Garland (Victoria) of Powassan. Thomas was the adored uncle of Michael McCallan of Owen Sound and Charlotte and Hudson (Happy) Garland of Powassan. He was the precious grandson of Audrey Church (the late Nelly) of Englehart and Adel McCallan (the late Bill) of Winnipeg and was predeceased by his grandparents Chic and Freida Garland of Powassan. Thomas was the adored nephew of Lyn Church (Cheryl), Duncan Church (Maureen), Kelly Church (Lisa), Debbie VanWalraven (Art) and Garry Garland (Jolyne), Tisha O’Keefe (Rob) and was predeceased by his uncle Frayne Church (Gwen, surviving). Thomas will be lovingly remembered by his “bonus parents” Barb and Scottie; and many cousins, teammates and friends. Family always came first to Thomas. Thomas was a caring and compassionate person who wore his heart on his sleeve and was the most thankful person we knew. He had a passion for hockey; from minor hockey (Go Vipers!), to high school, family tournaments, roller hockey and talking about his favourite team, The Leafs. Thomas loved the outdoors and was often found fishing, ice fishing, boating and hunting always with his loyal friend Winston (Winnie). He enjoyed his career working on pipeline projects and his co-workers, whom he often referred to as friends. The Garland family would like to thank Dr. Mike Leckie, Heather Leckie and the nursing team (Jennifer and Brittany) at North Bay Regional Health Centre for their care, compassion, love and support at a very difficult time. A celebration of Thomas’ life will be held at the Garland residence on Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 2:00 to 6:00 pm, with a tribute service at 3:00 pm.
