Violet died peacefully on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Southbridge Roseview Long Term Care, Thunder Bay. She was 95 years old.
Violet (nee Cook), was predeceased by her husband Edwin “Ross” Jones (1922-2008).
She was the beloved mother of Arlene McQueen (George) of Thunder Bay and Johnnie Jones (Barbara Cotter-Jones) of Bradford. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Victoria McQueen (Scott), Erin Gendron (Bryan) and Ryan Gainer (Melissa); and her great-grandchildren Lilianna, Lincoln, Archer, Philippe, Alex, Joshua, Jacob, Nathan and Riley.
Violet lived all but her last years on the Cook family farm on Commanda Lake Road at Tricky Hill. For many years Violet was a familiar face at seniors’ lunches around the area, and was a regular on the euchre and cribbage circuit.
A celebration of Violet’s life will take place at 11:00 am in Paul Funeral Home, Powassan on May 28, 2026. Reception to follow in the funeral home
