MALTBY, Argyle (Mac)

Argyle (Mac) Maltby, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2016 at Eastholme, Powassan in her 96th year, surrounded by her family. Cherished mother of Glen (Pat), Donna Bain (Peter), Wendy, Jim (Laurie) and John. Argyle was predeceased by her husband, R.J. (Neggie) Maltby in 1988. Grandma to Mark Maltby (Jennifer), Ian, Andrew and Marni Maltby, Michael Bain (Andrea), Heather Pyne (Brendan), Matthew Maltby (Amy), Melissa Maltby (Matt) and DJ Maltby. Great-Grandma to Logan Bain, Graeme and Madlyn Maltby and Benjamin Pyne.  Predeceased by her parents Christena (McLay) and William MacDermid, she is also survived by two sisters, Lenora Bews (Les predeceased) of Eatonia, Saskatchewan, and Rowena Malesku (Gus) of Vancouver, BC, and sister-in-law Shirley Davidson of Edmonton, Alberta as well as many nieces and nephews. Both our mother and father served in the RCAF during WWII. They married in Vancouver, BC in 1945 and moved back to our father’s hometown of Powassan in 1947. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the incredible staff of Eastholme in Powassan. Through their kindness and caring, Mom’s last two years were filled with happiness and a real sense of community. Visitors will be received at Powassan United Church on Saturday, August 13, 2016 from 10:00 to 11:00 am. A celebration of our Mother’s life will follow at 11:00 am. Interment of ashes will take place at Nipissing Cemetery. If desired, donations in memory of Argyle to Powassan United Church are suggested.
