To Donna's family,
Donna was a very dear friend of mine in her "Massey days" - In our teens, carefree and doing crazy things together. I cherish those memories and am deeply grateful that our lives crossed paths for those few years. I was deeply saddened at the news of her passing, and learning about her battle with cancer. I am consoled in the knowledge that she has left behind so many children and grandchildren, each of whom carry her kind and caring spirit forward. May she rest in peace.

My dear family - it is with a heavy heart and eyes clouded with tears that I have to say goodbye to Little Donna. A wonderful giving soul that always put others before her, and a smile that could sink a thousand ships. As writer Tony Arata could only say the words "And now, I'm glad I didn't know the way it all would end, The way it all would go. Yes, my life - it's better left to chance. I could have missed the pain, but I'd have to miss the dance." This reminds me of Donna because she really danced, she really lived life to the fullest and was loved and respected by so many. Sending my love to all of my family and Donna's extended family. Little Donna's cousin Debbie Armstrong - Thunder Bay, Ontario oxoxoxoxoxo

Sometimes in our lives we’re lucky enough to come across those who aren’t family but take us under their wings as if we were. Someone who gives us something we thought we had but in reality never knew we even needed. They bring stability and security where we never knew there could be any and instill within us the skills we need to achieve success in our life.
As life goes on at some point we leave the safety of our childhood and head out into the world to make it through our own volition. In a small town like North Bay, we come across these people here and there at grocery stores and public gatherings. When we do run into them it’s like seeing a family member who we haven’t seen for years. We’re tempted to run up to them and give them a big hug. We want to catch up but most of all we want to take them and show them our life as if to show off “look what I made of myself!” If I were to do this I would first introduce my wife and dog. I would brag about how I went to university and graduated among the top of the class or show off how skillful I’ve become in music. I might show off my home and all the cool things I’ve come to own over the course of this life. I’d introduce my friends and show what great people they are and how positively they influence my life. I’d tell the tales of all the struggles I’ve faced and how I overcame them all.
But in this particular scenario I was never able to do any of that. For this person was a social worker assigned to me through my school as a child to provide anger management support. I’ve always respected her personal life when I’ve seen her out and about. I would say ‘hi’ but I always kept it short out of respect for her personal space.
Today as I hear of her passing I think: had I shown her everything I’ve come to have in my life, it wouldn’t be because I wanted to brag about what I’ve done for myself, but what she has done for me. Without her influence I might have never developed the tools I needed to achieve success in learning or social situations. Her name is Donna Lowe and she was nothing less than an angel long before she went home to heaven.
Thank you Donna for everything you’ve given me. If I could do one thing in your honour it would be to pass on the same sense of security you gave me as a child.
To her family, thank you for sharing such a wonderful woman with those of us who needed her.
Go rest high upon that mountain. Much love to Donna, her friends, and family, and those like myself, who are unrelated but shedding many tears in her memory.

Being so far from 'home' and hearing the news has truly shaken me. I didn't know Donna very well but I worked with her husband Evan for many years. I always enjoy listening to their travel adventures at home and abroad. I remember the sparkle in her eye when we rented a cottage next door to their house (unknowingly) when they came over to socialize with us. She told me about the pickerel breeding ground within walking distance of her house where she was on night watch for pickerel poachers. I heard about the hard work and dedication she had for her job. She was a remarkable woman...she will always be remembered and sadly missed.

I am heartsick to learn of this amazing woman's passing. She was one of the first neighbours I met 30 years ago in Nipissing. We raised our kids together, spent time at the beach with them, shared problems and issues we were dealing with throughout our lives, and recently, caught up at yoga, taking time afterwards to have a drink/nosh and chat. I admired her intelligence, humour and loyalty. God bless you my sweet friend. Linda Morrin

I will miss her smile and her wit. We had years of banter between us, and things just won't be the same without her. Extraordinary woman. Stephen Morrin
